Beer Salad Dressing

As well as a beer salad dressing, why not go all the way and make a beer coleslaw and beer potato salad?

Beer Salad Dressing

You will need:
  • !/2 a cup of salad oil
  • A tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 a tablespoon of sugar
  • A cup of your favourite beer
  • A grated onion
  • A mashed garlic clove
  • A tablespoon of horseradish
  • A tablespoon of salt
  • 2 cans of condensed tomato soup

Take all the ingredients and mix well in a bowl. Once everything has been well combined place the mixture in a fridge and, just before you are to serve, mix well once again.

Beer Coleslaw

To make beer coleslaw you will need:
  • A teaspoon of celery seed
  • A cup of mayonnaise
  • A cup of beer
  • 2 teaspoons of minced onion
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of salt
  • 4 cups of shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 of a teaspoon of Tabasco
  • 1/2 a shredded green pepper

First blend the beer into the mayonnaise before adding the onion, salt, celery seeds and Tabasco. Next take the mayonnaise and add to the cabbage and green pepper, ensuring that they are well coated. Afterwards place in the fridge.

Beer Potato Salad

To make a beer potato salad you will need:
  • 1/2 a cup of beer
  • 3/4 of a cup of sour cream
  • 1/2 a cup of chopped onions
  • 3/4 of a pound of bacon, that has been cooked and crumbled
  • 5 cups of peeled and cubed potatoes
  • 1/2 a cup of chopped celery
  • A pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1/2 a cup of sour cream

First blend the sour cream, mayonnaise and beer together. Next toss together with onions, celery and potatoes. Once you have completed this, garnish the potato salad with crumbled bacon and add the salt and pepper. Next chi;; in the fridge for 3 hours.

Warm Potato Salad

If you prefer your beer salads on the warm side then this could be for you.

You will need:

  • 1/2 a cup of chopped red onions
  • 2 pounds of red potatoes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of chopped chives
  • 1/2 a cup of chopped parsley

For the dressing

  • A cup of beer
  • 5 tablespoons of olive oil
  • A tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 of a cup of chopped onions
  • 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar
  • 1/4 of a teaspoon of sugar
  • A pinch of salt and pepper

For the salad, first cook the potatoes for approximately 20 minutes. Next cut them into rounds and mix with parsley, onions and the beer dressing. When you are doing this it is important to ensure that the potatoes do not break up. Next add some salt and pepper and use the chives for garnish.

For the dressing, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil, using a frying pan over a medium heat. Next add in the onions and cook for approximately 7 minutes. Once this has been completed add in the beer, sugar and vinegar and boil for approximately 7 minutes. Next blend well as you add the mustard and pour in the remaining olive oil, along with the salt and pepper.
